1967年、監督のトリフォーから『俺たちに明日はない』の脚本を推薦されたウォーレン･ビーティは、
自身のプロデュースで製作のワーナーブラザーズから口出し出来ないように、
ハリウッドを離れテキサスでオールロケをして作り上げた。
いわゆるアメリカン･ニュー･シネマの誕生である。
ジャック・ワーナーは失敗作と決めつけたが、若者達は迎え入れた。
